Ice Cream Social & English Country Dancing!
At the end of an intense two days of Speech & Debate competition, we are happy to announce this time of great Fun, Fellowship and Ice Cream (because we all scream for it!)! Iron Sharpening Iron Speech and Debate Club invites you to relax, laugh, dance and ENJOY the FUN and ICE CREAM as we host an English Country Dance & lots and lots of Ice Cream (did we mention the toppings?) on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the tournament.
This event is anticipated by all and is the time when we put aside the serious focus on debate plans and counter-plans, the rehearsing to not forget any word or line in memorized speeches, or the use of all our mental power to present the best, most compelling limited prep speech! Instead, it is the time for competitors, younger siblings, parents and even judges to play, to celebrate, to share a great Ice Cream Bar together and then enjoy the music and dance! You don’t need to be a professional English Country dancer to participate! Our dance caller trains you in the dance steps and makes it easy for all to follow. It's SO MUCH FUN!! . . . think Pride & Prejudice Ball with the whole family!
When & Where Will This Happen?
This happens immediately after the Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening, April 26th at the following location:
Calvary Chapel Rivergate
1001 Willis Branch Road
Goodlettsville, TN
(This is about a 5 minute drive from our tournament facility; go west on Long Hollow Pike for 5.1 miles, then left onto Willis Branch Dr., and Calvary Chapel is there on the left.)
How To Dress?
The dress code is flexible. You can come in your tournament attire or girls can dress in a more formal manner. But the same modesty code applies, so bring your modest party dress and get ready to reel, and polka, and promenade.
How Much Does It Cost?
Pay $5 per person (ages 3 & up) during registration (children 2 and under are free!) That’s right, just $5 per person for yummy ice cream and an extra fun dance!
How Do I Sign Up?
You can ONLY register for the Ice Cream Social and English Country Dance during "step 4" of student registration. You will need to specify the total number of people from your family who will be attending. We sincerely hope you join us! And, there’s always JUST the ice cream bar if you really don’t want to dance :) But we’re pretty sure you’ll catch the “fever” and start movin’ on the dance floor!
